For more than two centuries, Plisson has selected materials whose natural qualities meet the exacting standards of its craftsmanship. Each is chosen for its unique properties, shaped with respect for its inherent character, and revealed through the artisan's skilled hand. More than a simple material, each one contributes to the personality, durability and character of the Maison's creations.
This pursuit of excellence finds its roots in Plisson's own history, born from the meeting of a family of brushmakers and a family of tabletiers, artisans specialised in creating objects crafted from noble materials such as precious woods, horn and, in earlier times, ivory.
To this day, the vast majority of our shaving accessories are crafted from hand-turned pieces, meticulously polished and treated to provide lasting resistance to moisture.
Each material is worked in accordance with its natural properties by artisans who perpetuate a savoir-faire passed down from generation to generation. A commitment that gives rise to objects designed to stand the test of time.
Precious woods
Each wood species possesses its own character, grain and distinctive personality.
Our artisans shape carefully selected precious woods into unique creations, whose natural grain and subtle variations reveal the full richness of the material.
Our collection showcases species such as Macassar Ebony, Rosewood, Royal Rosewood and Olive Wood, chosen as much for their natural elegance as for their durability.
We also offer our iconic Original model in Santos Rosewood, a wood traditionally regarded as sacred, as well as in Padauk, also known as Red Ironwood.
Genuine Horn
A living material with a naturally distinctive character, genuine horn is admired as much for its apparent delicacy as for its remarkable strength.
Plisson artisans perpetuate the heritage of traditional tabletterie, shaping unique pieces whose grain, subtle variations and natural reflections make every creation truly one of a kind.
Working with horn demands exceptional expertise. Both hard and naturally brittle, this material requires meticulous preparation and an in-depth understanding of its unique characteristics. Each piece is therefore entirely crafted by hand, using precise techniques passed down from generation to generation.

Lacquer

Acetate
Like lacquer, acetate offers a smooth, lustrous and perfectly uniform finish. Resistant to scratches, humidity and UV exposure, it retains its brilliance and aesthetic qualities over time.
Exceptionally durable when properly cared for, acetate is crafted with the same exacting standards as wood and horn. The pieces in our Original collection are hand-turned to achieve an exceptionally precise finish.

Limoges Porcelain
Used to craft our shaving bowls, our white porcelain comes from the great tradition of Limoges Porcelain. Renowned worldwide since the eighteenth century, it is celebrated for its exceptional fineness, whiteness and quality.
Its manufacture relies on a demanding production process and the rigorous selection of the finest clays. This porcelain offers excellent resistance to impacts, scratches and stains, allowing it to last for years—or even generations—when properly cared for.
Limoges Porcelain is also distinguished by its marks of authenticity, guaranteeing both its origin and the craftsmanship behind its production.

Precious Metals
All Plisson metal components are crafted from a solid brass base, selected for its strength and durability. They are then enhanced with a variety of finishes, meticulously applied to combine protection, aesthetics and lasting performance.
Chrome & Palladium
Chrome plating consists of applying a fine layer of chrome to the surface of our accessories. This finish provides lasting protection against corrosion while increasing resistance to scratches and everyday wear.
Its application requires exceptional expertise and complete mastery of the finishing process to achieve a flawless, long-lasting result.
Palladium, a precious metal belonging to the platinum family, also offers outstanding resistance to corrosion and the effects of time. Naturally hypoallergenic, it is particularly appreciated for its technical qualities as well as its refined elegance.
Its bright silvery-white lustre lends each piece a look that is understated, luminous and resolutely timeless.
Gold & Rose Gold
Our 24-carat Gold finish is applied with the utmost precision to create a perfectly uniform coating on every piece. Naturally malleable, this precious metal demands constant attention throughout the entire finishing process.
