Good skin preparation beforeshaving is essential for a morecomfortable shave and to limitirritation.

Start by cleansing yourface with a suitable product to removeimpurities and excess sebum. It is thenideal to prepare the skin with warmwater, which helps soften the hairs andmakes it easier for the razor toglide.

Applying a shaving soap or creamwith a shaving brush then creates arich lather that hydrates the hair,lifts it, and improves the blade'sglide.

Well-prepared skin thus allowsfor a more precise, gentler, and morecomfortable shave, while preservingskin comfort.

The choice of traditional shaving equipment mainly depends on your skin type, the nature of your beard, and your shaving habits.

The shaving brush is an essential accessory for preparing the skin and hair before the razor pass. The choice of bristle quality depends on the sensation sought: firmer bristles, such as Gris de Russie, offer a more invigorating exfoliation and a more noticeable feel on the skin. Conversely, softer qualities, such as Blanc Haute Montagne or synthetic fibers, are particularly appreciated for their great softness and are suitable for sensitive skin.
Gris Européen sits between these two qualities: it offers a good balance between firmness and softness, with a comfortable feel while retaining a slight presence on the skin.

For classic facial shaving use, size 12 is the reference format. It offers an excellent balance of comfort, precision, and the ability to build a generous lather. Smaller sizes can be chosen for travel or finishing touches, while larger sizes will suit enthusiasts seeking more volume.

The choice of razor head also depends on your experience and preferences. Mach3 or Fusion heads offer a simple, comfortable shave thanks to their multi-blade cartridges. Closed-comb razors are generally appreciated for their gentleness and ease of use, particularly for beginners or sensitive skin. Open-comb razors, on the other hand, offer a more direct cut and may be preferred by experienced users or those with thicker beards.

Well-chosen traditional shaving equipment, combined with a quality shaving soap or cream, delivers a more comfortable, precise, and enjoyable shave every day.

Proper care of your shaving brush and razor is essential to preserve their performance and extend their lifespan.

After each use, rinse your shaving brush thoroughly with warm water to remove all soap or shaving cream residue. Gently wring it out without pulling on the bristles, then let it air dry, ideally head-down on a suitable stand. Avoid leaving it in a damp environment to preserve the quality of the bristles and handle.

For the razor, rinse the head after each shave to remove lather and hair residue. Dry it thoroughly and avoid constantly exposing it to moisture, particularly for models with a wooden handle or specific finishes. Blades should be replaced regularly to maintain a comfortable, precise shave.

With a few simple care habits, a quality brush and a well-maintained razor can accompany you for many years, while retaining their effectiveness and elegance.

The choice of a hairbrush mainly depends on the nature of your hair, its length, and the result you want to achieve.
For fine to normal hair, a boar bristle brush is particularly well suited. Gentle and respectful of the hair fiber, it helps smooth the hair, naturally distribute sebum, and add shine.
For thick or unruly hair, a brush combining boar bristles and nylon pins offers more grip and detangling power. It allows for more effective brushing of thick hair while retaining the benefits of natural bristle.

The size of the brush is also chosen based on hair length:

• a medium model is suitable for short to medium-length hair;
• a large model is better suited to medium-to-long or long hair, to cover more length in a single stroke.

For a blow-dry brush, the choice of diameter depends on the desired effect:

• a small diameter creates tighter movements, more defined curls or waves;
• a large diameter is ideal for smoothing hair, adding volume, and achieving a softer blow-dry.

The ideal brush therefore combines the right material, the right size, and the right shape according to your hair type and styling preferences.
