Olive Wood Straight Razor

An emblematic instrument of traditional wet shaving, this straight razor combines a C135 carbon steel blade with a solid Olive Wood handle. Naturally warm and luminous, Olive Wood is distinguished by shades ranging from golden blond to deeper tones and by its irregular, contrasting grain. Each handle therefore reveals its own natural variations, giving every piece a distinctive character.

Very thin and hollow-ground, the 5/8 blade provides the precision required for a controlled traditional shave. Anti-slip jimping beneath the tang improves grip and contributes to greater control during shaving.

Designed for those already familiar with straight-razor shaving or wishing to learn this demanding traditional technique, it provides direct contact with the blade and allows precise shaving of both the face and beard contours.

Handcrafted in France in the tradition of the Thiers-Issard workshops, it comes with its black leather case for protection and storage after use.

After each use, rinse the blade thoroughly with clean water to remove any remaining soap or shaving lather, then dry it immediately and carefully with a soft cloth or towel. Never leave the blade damp, as carbon steel is susceptible to oxidation.

Before shaving, regularly use a leather strop to maintain the blade's edge. Perform this step carefully without applying excessive pressure. When stropping is no longer sufficient to restore the edge, professional honing may be required.

As Olive Wood is a natural material, avoid leaving the handle immersed in water or in an excessively damp environment in order to preserve its finish and qualities over time.

Once completely dry, store the straight razor in its black leather case and keep it in a dry place. During extended periods of non-use, a thin layer of protective oil may be applied to the blade to help prevent oxidation.

For an optimal shave, shave in the morning, ideally after a shower. Warmth and moisture help soften the beard hair and prepare the skin for the blade.

Prepare a rich, creamy lather using a shaving brush and shaving soap or cream, then apply it to damp skin to soften and lift the beard hair.

Gently stretch the skin and carefully glide the blade over it without applying excessive pressure, using short, controlled strokes. Begin by shaving with the grain. For a second pass, apply fresh lather and shave against the grain according to your experience and comfort.

After shaving, rinse your face with cool water and apply a suitable aftershave treatment to soothe and rehydrate the skin.
